With plenty of nearby lodging and good accessibility via Interstate 80, the Zoo will be a trip that is easy to plan out. Omaha is filled with great restaurants, plenty of shopping and enough golf courses to keep the whole family busy for several days.
Less than a half mile from the zoo is the Comfort Inn at the Zoo. This hotel is newly renovated and clean. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The parking lot has security cameras and nearly everyone staying at the hotel was going to the zoo.
It has a great hot breakfast serving waffles, biscuits and gravy, pastries, bagels, cereals, and fruit. There are still 6 smoking rooms on the second floor, so if you don't want to smell them, be sure to as for a room away from the smoking rooms. They offer free wireless internet, have a public computer near the front desk, a private exercise room which is unlocked by your keycard (after you pay for it's use).
There isn't much eating nearby besides the Mc Donald's that is right next door, but there are plenty of great places within 5 minutes.
